ChileFoundry – Passion Review – A Passionfruit, Pineapple and Habanero Hot Sauce
Sinful Sauces 7 Deadly Sins is a range of sauces going from mild in seven steps to extreme, today we are looking at #2 passion.
This sauce is a dark yellow, semi translucent colour with some large black passion fruit seeds floating in the mix, the Passion fruit is a native of Paraguay, Brazil and Argentina and is now grown commercially around the world.
Passionfruit
The Passion fruit is no stranger to the chilli, in Mexico the Passion fruit is eaten raw with Chilli power and lime juice.
On opening the sauce smell sweetly of Pineapple, with hints of the cider vinegar, the sauce is thick with the flesh of the pineapple and passion fruit.
The sauce does not have a string flavour, but imparts a an exotic fruit smoothie flavour of sweet ripe pineapple with the passion fruit coming through it, then the Cider Vinegar and the wonderful flavour of the Orange Habs with there warmth.
Ingredients: Pineapple (56%), Passionfruit (18%), Sugar, Cider Vinegar, Orange Habanero (6%).

If anything it is not as an intense fruit flavour as I was hoping for, but having said that it is very very fresh flavour. It’s could easily be lost if used in cooking, so best to use this were you can get the best use of flavour. Adding it as a condiment to roast chicken salad, or as the base of a citrus salad dressing.
Passion Salad Dressing
- 3 Tbsp Sinful Sauces Hot Sauce
- 30 ml Olive Oil or light Vegetable Oil
- 30 ml Cider Vinegar
Place all the ingredients in a small glass bowl and whisk together just before use.
Sinful Sauces recommended using it Chicken, Pork or on Vanilla ice cream, the ice cream idea sound a great idea, the sweet warmth of the sauce would be wonderful.
You can order this sauces along with the rest of the range at their web site www.sinfulsauces.co.uk at £4.50 a bottle, it is not cheap, but I think it is well worth it for such a unique sauce.
